FIFEQ/KINO FILM FESTIVAL/FLATPACK FILM FESTIVAL/INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL WALES/WALES INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL

Rounds is an ethnography of masculine identity in a boxing club in Newport South Wales. The film represents a sensory immersion into the more everyday, mundane space of the gym, concentrating on the intense structures and rhythms of a training session that over time shape the pugilist’s sense of self. In doing so, it investigates a simple premise; what are the incentives for taking a punch to the face?
