Siôn Marshall-Waters is a Welsh filmmaker and photographer based in Bristol. With a background in visual anthropology, his work moves between ethnographic documentary and fiction, exploring rural lives, folklore and the peculiarities of everyday experience.
His short film Forest Coal Pit (14 mins, 2021) screened at film festivals including BFI London Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival, and Courtisane. The film was nominated for a Grierson Award and received a special mention for the Grand Prix Documentary Short at Cork International Film Festival. It is currently streaming on BBC iPlayer.
His 2025 short film Pen Mari (13 mins, 2025), an experimental folk-horror, was supported by BFI Network, WePresent and produced by Bosena (Enys Men, Rose of Nevada). The film premiered at Fantastic Fest.
He is a member of the experimental film collective and lab BEEF (Bristol Experimental and Expanded Film) and a close collaborator of the band Getdown Services.
